We’ve Lost A Comic Genius

This isn’t the type of thing I usually blog about, but I felt compelled to share the love and remember the late Robin Williams. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his death, and was surprised to learn that he had suffered with depression and addiction. Maybe I had been living under a rock, […]

Our first topic? Sex in fiction.

New Feature! (S)he Said

HE SAID, SHE SAID is a brand-spanking-new feature created and hosted by Rachel (at) Confessions of a Book Geek and Joey (at) Thoughts and Afterthoughts, where formality is thrown out of the window in no-holds-barred discussions on all things bookish.

Take two opinionated bloggers; one male, one female, add one discussion topic and things are about to get interesting…

Sharing the Bloggy Love <3

There are many things I love about blogging. I love the fact it has re-introduced me to reading. I love that I can share feels, and hype, and my bookish obsessions with other like-minded people, I love the great discussions, and memes and all sorts of other informative, and witty, and wonderful posts out there. I […]

Acknowledgements and Dedications

Fact about me – when I was younger I read the acknowledgements and dedications of books. Religiously. They were usually short and sweet and they made me feel “closer” to my favourite authors. Roll on (quite) a few years, and I realised that I don’t read the acknowledgements and dedications anywhere near as often as […]

Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby.

When was the last time you read a book about sex? Or a book with a sexy scene? Not necessarily hardcore erotica, even a YA book that features coming-of-age sexual relations?? Laura at She Loves To Read is hosting a week long readathon called Sex Me Up (#sexmeupreadathon) with the aim of dispelling the myth that […]

Mental Health Awareness Month Wrap-Up

For the month of June I took part in Mental Health Awareness Month hosted by Leah from Uncorked Thoughts and Ula from Blog of Erised. I really felt this feature allowed a broad variety and mix of bloggers to come together and openly discuss issues that are often brushed under the carpet, and I know that even with […]

My Independent Bookshop

My Independent Bookshop

My Independent Bookshop is a joint venture between Penguin Random House and hive.co.uk. It’s a social website that allows anyone to set-up an on-line “bookshop” in the UK and link it to an actual local independent retailer. The individual’s page showcases their favourite reads, and when someone buys a book through the bookshop, a small percentage of the sale goes to the real independent retailer.

What Do You Do While Listening To An Audiobook??

I’m new to this whole audiobook thing, in fact until recently I’d never even considered listening to/reading an audiobook. Of course, I thought they had value, just not for me. Apparently, according to many of the bloggers I follow, I’m wrong.

But the big question is, what do you do while listening to an audiobook??

Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental Health Awareness Month – Food for Thought

Quite a while ago, I stumbled upon TED Talks when researching Public Speaking for a management course.
It was love at first sight.
The talks cover everything from social commentary, to technological and medical advancements, some are very serious, and others very entertaining. As it’s Mental Health Awareness Month, I recently found some talks that focused on #MentalHealth and thought I’d share them…

Mental Health Awareness Month

Leah from Uncorked Thoughts and Ula from Blog of Erised are hosting Mental Health Awareness Month from the 1st until the 30th of June 2014. Mental Health issues are more prevalent than ever and yet support, awareness and information about the ways in which mental health issues can affect you if you suffer from them […]

Amazon versus Hachette

Amazon Vs Hachette – Who Do You Support?

Settle in and get comfortable, people. This one’s messy. Before I started book-blogging there were many things unknown to me (actually, I’m pretty sure there are still many, many things unknown to me), but eventually I became keenly aware of the goings-on in book-world; from blogging plagiarism scandals, to highly anticipated new releases and from […]

Reading, Blogging and Trying To Have a Life!

Here’s something no one really tells you (and even if they do, you kind of don’t believe them) – blogging takes time. And book blogging takes even more time, because you have to actually read the book before you can write the review. I may have come up with a potential solution…
