Where the hell did April go?!? 2015 seems to be going past much quicker than I was expecting it to – we’ll be at the halfway mark to Christmas shortly, and that is just scary! This month felt like a bit of a bust for me, but we’ll put together the monthly wrap-up anyways to see how I got on…
The Books:
Next month will be a pretty big haul – it’s a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, and that means sales, which equals me being weak when it comes to new books for £1 each…
This month, I did pick up Slammed by Colleen Hoover, and devoured it! I immediately went online and purchased This Girl and Point of Retreat. I don’t know which order these go in, and when I tried to see if the books were helpfully numbered I accidentally read a massive spoiler in one of the blurbs. So, I’ll not be doing that again.
I was approved for Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry on NetGalley, and received a copy of The Light of Day by Kristen Kehoe for review.
Movies and TV Shows:
This month I’ve been binging Gossip Girl on Netflix. I have a habit of periodically re-watching TV shows I’ve already finished. My friends think I’m crazy as there are so many amazing new TV shows I’m missing out on, which is true, but I’m a creature of habit! I also watched and enjoyed The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and completely fell in love with a movie starring Bradley Cooper called Words. You should look it up, Book Geeks will not be disappointed!

In Case You Missed It:
My reading just about picked up again towards the end of April, but the blog has been light on reviews, going to get plenty scheduled this weekend! Check out my measley one review for We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach (2.5/5)…
Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten Characters I’d Love To Check In With – Top Ten Inspiring Quotes from Books – Top Ten Author BFFs – Top Ten Male Characters Who have My ❤
This month I also posted a quarterly Challenge Check-In, talked about how I’m being a Bad Blogger and what I want to do to change that, and I responded to BookTuber Ariel Bissett’s video with a post called You Want Me To DEFACE My Books!? I waxed poetic about what makes a great reader and hosted a guest post by author Melanie Ansley who thinks animal stories aren’t just for kids! April was a pretty quiet month on the blog overall, I’m hoping for much more from May!
My most popular posts in April (except for TTT posts) were my blogoversary giveaway post and my response to Ariel Bissett!
Here is hoping for a much busier month on the blog in May! What’s been happening in your month, Book Geeks?
I can’t believe you think you weren’t bookishly busy! I took a BIG break in April, but am planning to get stuck right in again in May.

Well, I still posted once a week I guess, but it was mostly memes until I caught myself on at the end of the month, and I only wrote one review, that’s my worst performance ever I think!! Lol I fully intend to schedule like a demon this weekend though, I want some juicier content back up here, and there’s plenty of it in the works!!! 😉 I discovered through this process that breaks are good sometimes too, I know I view them too negatively, but they are needed. Any reads you’re really looking forward to at the minute? R x

I tend to watch mostly tv shows I’ve already watched on Netflix too. I’m re-watching How I Met Your Mother right now – but only the first few seasons. I was really disappointed with the last several seasons.

It’s a show I’ve never watched, most likely because I’m rewatching all my other shows!! Lol I will start into something new next month maybe, I’ve a lot on with work and studies at the minute, though S3 of Orange is the New Black is due soon… Did you get an email from me? R x

Spoiler….no!!! Point of Retreat is book two. I hope what you read isn’t going to keep you from reading it.

I was RAGING lol the first line on the back of the book and I was just like, “oh, so that worked out then” lol Oh no, it’s CoHo, I’ll still read it, but that wee part has been ruined. Ahhh, yay for McG books! I’m up for that! I know we were meant to be doing The Sky Is Everywhere… but I haven’t gotten to it yet… I will though. I will. DEFINITELY going to type up the Confess review and email you both tomorrow, which is already today for me (2am) but you know what I mean… R x

Why are you still awake?! I’d be long passed out by now. Lol. YES – I want to still read The Sky is Everywhere because I just had another blogger friend read it recently and she said it was her favorite book of the month, and now one of her all time favs, so of course I’m even more excited to read it! WHY can’t I have more time to read?!?

Haha – it’s nearly midnight on a school night and I’m still going strong! 😛
I agree 100% with your thoughts – reading and blogging requires much time from me this weekend, I still have to do up the Babes and Books review for Confess (IT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND!), I’ll send you and S my picks for your Burn, Rewrite, Reread Tag, and I’ve coursework to do as well, so I’ll not be leaving the house this weekend, eyes will be glued to my laptop screen! Sorry you saw a spoiler for the Slammed series 😦 And yes Point of Retreat is book two.
Hope you enjoy Nowhere but Here. I can’t wait to read that one.
I started reading We All Looked Up but couldn’t get into it so it’s on hold for now. I see you were not that thrilled with it either.
I loved the first few seasons of GG. How fun to have a rewatch!
Thanks for the link love 🙂

It was infuriating at the time, Lucy, but I read on like a trooper regardless! I’ve taken a break to read ACOTAR, then I’ll finish the series off. I’m excited for McGarry’s latest, I really like her stories. We All Looked Up didn’t live up to my expectations at all, though I did enjoy the writing style for the most part. I put it down at around 60% and struggled with the desire/will to pick it back up! R x

Omg, that The Words movie looks AMAZING. I WANT. Ugh, I hate it when blurbs spoil books. HATE IT. That basically happens for every. series. ever these days, though, and it’s SO hard not to read blurbs. I mostly just abandon blurbs all together to save myself. hehe. OMg, YES, April went fast!! It’s a bit scary…only one more month and then we’re halfway through the year?! WHAT. STAHP, 2015, I’M NOT READY. XDXD

It was SO good, it was character driven, and a story within a story, within a story. Lesson has been learned with blurbs. Never again! Haha I laughed out loud at “STAHP” – that’s exactly it!! R x

I love these wrap-up posts because, even when I feel like I’ve missed way too much on my friends’ blogs, I can see it all in one place and go catch up!! Looks like you had a great month!!
