A couple of years ago, I took part in something called Blogmas, where I (failed miserably) at posting every day in December. One of those posts was on my favourite Christmas songs, so I’m upcycling some content today as I revamp that old post and bring it to you in all of its new glory!
There are so many aspects of Christmas that I love – the sparkly fairy lights, wearing knits in the crisp air, the festivities (aka drinks and nibbles with family and friends every weekend in the month leading up to Christmas!), staff Christmas nights out, Christmas movies being on TV (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, anyone?) secret Santa presents, the perfect combination of turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce… I could go on.
As a Book Geek, I’ve spotted a trend where some people have specific “Christmas reads”. Winter falls upon us and suddenly some readers just want books that are set at Christmas-time, books that feature cosy mysteries, books that have festive romances. I’m not one of those people. My literary choices are rarely inspired by the seasons.
I am, however, addicted to Christmas music. I love the feeling of absolute cheer it gives me, I love when everyone sings along very loudly in the pub, and I LOVE the nostalgia I feel when I hear these songs and the memories they evoke. So, today I’m bringing you my absolute favourite Christmas tunes. Hit play and turn them up!!
1. Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas (My fave Christmas tune!)
2. Mariah Carey – Miss You Most
3. The Pogues – Fairytale of New York
4. Chris Rea – Driving Home For Christmas
5. Wham! – Last Christmas
6. Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas
7. Slade – Merry Christmas Everybody
8. Bing Crosby – White Christmas
9. Frank Sinatra – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
10. Perry Como – Winter Wonderland
11. Michael Buble – It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas
12. Britney Spears – My Only Wish This Year
13. Christina Aguilera – The Christmas Song
14. Kelly Clarkson – Underneath the Tree
15. Justin Bieber – Mistletoe
16. Arianna Grande – Santa Tell Me
17. Christina Aguilera – This Christmas
18. Band Aid 30 – Do They Know It’s Christmas?
19. Idina Menzel and Michael Buble – Baby It’s Cold Outside
20. Elmo and Patsy – Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer

Lots of good ones on here (although I’ll admit I hate Wham!). Mariah’s Christmas album is one of my all time favorites for sure.
I always feel the need to read a holiday themed book in December. But that’s the only time the mood strikes. I can’t read them any other time of the year. I’m weird.
I would have never associated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Christmas! Lol. But it’s been years since I’ve seen it.

Lol my sister LOVED Wham! when I was growing up, I heard them so often that even now I remember most of the lyrics to songs I don’t remember listening to!! All I Want For Christmas is literally THE Christmas tune.
Really? Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is on TV here EVERY year at Christmas, along with Home Alone, Mary Poppins, Miracle on 34th Street. Although my favourite movie is The Santa Clause, and no doubt one of my posts for Blogmas will be all about it! R xx

You only put up your tree a week before christmas?! hehe, I thought I was a grinch and our family does it on the 1st of Dec. XDXD BUT STILL. I’m the grinchiest of grinches, but I do love the Piano Guys music. Particularly their O Come Emmanuel one. Omg, I get the goose bumps for that one.

Lol, yes! Traditionally you put it up about a week before and take it down Jan 6th I think? It seems to be getting earlier every year that shops and whatnot are promoting it, so in my own way I think I’m fighting the system lol. Like I say though, we didn’t get it up at all last year. My dad’s a grinch, and there’s no young kids in my family, so it got to around the 23rd and it still wasn’t up and by then I was like forget it, we’ll do better next year lol. R xx
