Top Ten Halloween Movies For Scardey Cats
I recently did a post for Ominous October, which is being hosted by Ula @ Blog of Erised, where I discussed my book picks for scaredy cats at Halloween. So, today I’m going to mix it up by doing my Top Ten Halloween Movies, but for scaredy cats. Don’t forget to enter my Spooktacular Giveaway to win a spooky book of your choice!
1. The Addams Family – Who doesn’t love this kooky, creepy and hilarious family? And I can bet this is in all of your heads right now…
2. Edward Scissorhands
3. Hocus Pocus – Take three sisters we all loved to hate, one childhood crush (for me anyway, and no not the brother, but the cat) and you have one fab-u-lous Halloween movie. Don’t worry, it all becomes clear…
4. Beetlejuice – Beetlejuice… Beetle…
5. Practical Magic – ❤
6. Misery – Some authors should count themselves lucky…
7. The Nightmare Before Christmas
8. Casper – I ADORED this movie as a kid!!
9. The Mask
10. Harry Potter – Did you really think I could make a Halloween list and not include this???
Guys, making this list has got me in the mood for a night of nibbles and movies!! Which movies or books have made your list today? Link me up or let me know in the comments! Happy Halloween, Book Geeks!
I reeeaaally want to watch these all now haha! I love Hocus Pocus; haven’t watched it in far too long! Xx

I wasn’t overly in a movie-watching mood until I did this post, and now I’d like to spend a week doing nothing but watching movies, not even reading books!

I know what you mean – I normally put on movies at home and read while I watch them lol, best of both! Hoping to get to the cinema this week too as it’s been a while, I’d like to watch Gone Girl as I’ve just read the book x

I really want to see Gone Girl!! And there’s loads of other movies I want to see soon too, like Love, Rosie. I loved that book! What did you think of Gone Girl?

Thank you for this – I hate actual horror movies, so it’s nice to know that people are thinking of us scaredycats! 😀 Harry Potter is definitely the way to go for Halloween, and strangely, also Christmas. Do they also air Harry Potter around Christmas time where you live?
P.S. I love you for including The Mask.

Thanks for commenting! I really don’t “do” scary movies, I have such an overactive imagination that I can’t go pee on my own after watching one without thinking Scream/Jason/Insert Scary Protagonist here is out to get me. I much prefer slightly spooky or paranormal movies, I guess if you’re a fan you could add Twilight to this list too. Really looking forward to a Friday evening on movie watching now! And yes, Harry Potter is always on TV at Christmas time, I have the boxset and will be subjecting whoever is around to watching it with me!
LOVE The Mask!!

Yep, my family does a weekly movie night, and HP, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Beetlejuice have all been watched this month. I’m a total scaredy cat, and my kids are little, so we don’t do horror. Have you ever seen Arsenic and Old Lace? It’s a Cary Grant screwball comedy. Hilarious but slightly creepy.

Okay, your list is a lot tamer than mine, but I love at least 75% of the films, and the rest I don’t love simply because I haven’t watched. Maybe I’ll sit and watch tame films for Halloween, you may have even converted me. Also, Edwards Scissorhands and Practical Magic are two films I forgot about but totally adore,
Nightmare before Christmas I always treat as a Christmas films simply because there is way more Christmassy stuff in it, it’s like my November film because it’s inbetween the two, which sounds a bit weird to have a time of year you prefer to watch a film in.

Definitely tame! Lol Ohhh, I like the idea of converting a horror lover!
I have times of year I like to watch movies too, I mean Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Mary Poppins etc. are all on at Christmas time and they aren’t at all Christmassy. Nightmare Before Christmas is a good in-between one, because so much of it is Xmas based, but I find it freaky too. R x
