Great choice! Of course, the winner of the giveaway can pick any banned or challenged book they like, not just those on the list! 🙂

I’d choose Perks because I’ve been wanting to read it for awhile. The books on that list are quite shocking actually, my library has a display up showing a couple of them and Harry Potter is on there.. Perks was on there, The Giver was on there. Apparently To Kill a Mockingbird and Of Mice and Men are on there, why I don’t know.

They can be challenged for a number of reasons, usually religion, sex or violence are the main issues, but luckily rarely is a book actually banned altogether, but it can be removed from a curriculum or taken off the shelf in stores. Great pick!

LOL! I read it mid to late teens, and it was definitely an eye-opener! There are some male POVs in there that feel very real, and some graphic content if I remember correctly. It felt like I was reading something “forbidden” at the time, but I’d love to get my hands on a copy now! Not sure if mine is still around… R x
