Top Ten Tuesday – My All Time Favourite Reads!

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten All Time Favourite Reads!

This week’s topic is just cruel, CRUEL I tell you! I could ramble on about my favourite reads for quite a while (I’m sure we all could) but how do we just pick ten?! I’m going to try and categorise this one somehow so I don’t become a quivering mess that falls apart at the seams trying to pick between my babies. (Also, I’m a terrible blogger and didn’t get pictures in this week, they’ll be added soon!).

1. My Favourite Children’s Book

Popular Pick – Harry Potter series by JK Rowling – You didn’t honestly think I could make a Top Ten list and not squeeze this in here, did you? This series really was my childhood, I was 9 when I started reading it and 16 when the last book came out. I grew up with Harry and I will always LOVE these books.

Deserves More Love – Under the Hawthorn Tree by Marita Conlon-McKenna – We had to read this book in primary school, I think. But I absolutely adored it. Ireland, The Great Famine, 1840s. Sold.

2. My Favourite Contemporary

Popular Pick – Can-I-Just-Have-Anything-By-Colleen-Hoover? No? OK. I’ll go with… Maybe Someday – This was my introduction to CoHo. It’s mixed media. It’s all about the feels. It’s an amazing contemporary with amazing characters. I just wanna meet Colleen and give her a big bear hug. //My Review//

Deserves More Love – Boys Like You by Juliana Stone – I raved about this book in my review. I don’t often give contemporaries 5/5 because it can be difficult for them to pack that kind of a punch for me. But this one did. //My Review//

3. My Favourite YA Fantasy

Popular Pick – Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas – This is a series where I am genuinely super-duper-EXCITED-peeing-my-pants for the next releases. I haven’t felt like this in a long time, the anticipation, the eagerness. It’s so… invigorating! I love Celaena, and Chaol. Chaolaena <3. //My Review//

Deserves More Love – Minutes Before Sunset by Shannon A Thompson – So YA Fantasy is a genre that was new-to-me, and in 2014 I picked up this book, not sure what to expect. I can’t wait to read the next two books in this trilogy to see where it goes. For me, it was very original! //My Review//

4. My Favourite Dystopian

Popular Pick: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins – This was a hard one to call. While this series wasn’t perfect for me, I did totally devour it and I just couldn’t get enough of the world Collins created.

Deserves More Love: Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman – I thought this might have been classed as a Popular Pick, but I’m hugely surprised by the number of people who haven’t heard of this series, or who haven’t picked it up yet. Read it. Bring Kleenex. //My Review//

5. Favourite Adult Fiction

Popular Pick: We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver – So deep. So heart-breaking. So thought-provoking. So disturbing. This is a novel that will stay with you long after you turn the last page.

Deserves More Love: Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult – I think this is less well-known than my choice above. Even though Picoult is a popular author, I feel like Handle With Care needs much more love. It broke me.

Conclusion – I read ALL the genres! I wanted to include non-fiction and historical fiction too but I thought I’d be good for a change and stick with ten picks. So, what are some of your favourite books ever? Link me up in the comments!
