Afternoon, Book Geeks!
Today, I’ve written a Guest Post over on Dani Reviews Things for her event, #NAAugust!
In it I discuss NA fiction, and declare that NA is NOT erotica! Check out my discussion and drop Dani some love!
In celebration of the event, I will soon be reviewing It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover AND offering one of you lucky Book Geeks the chance to win a paperback copy for yourselves!
Stay tuned to find out how to enter the giveaway. Happy Reading!
Great post! I haven’t read anything NA yet but I had seen some posts that seemed like they were comparing to erotica. You explained it all very nicely!

Oh yes! While they all generally score pretty highly for me, Hoover uses some really interesting story-telling techniques in all of her novels. Maybe Someday is a definite favourite, pretty light on the sexual content, but high on the slow-build relationship and steamy factor, and it has it’s own soundtrack that was created just for the book, it’s a mixed media experience and it’s excellent. Ugly Love is a straight up novel, told with dual timeline and it’s one of Hoover’s more steamy offerings. I can’t pinpoint exactly why, but it scored highly for me. Confess has artwork included in the novel, that was created specifically for it and inspired by real-life reader confessions sent to Hoover anonymously, I find that so original. Slammed was Hoover’s first novel, and while you can definitely see her progression as a writer since then, I think Slammed has my favourite leading man of hers ever. Will is superb. It also has spoken word poetry. I could keep going! Lol I do love all of her novels, but those would be my recs to start you off! R xx

Great post! I don’t read NA (currently) but if you’re interested in NA or just started reading it this will clear up any confusion!

Thought this was a great post! I do think that some NA books border on erotica, but it’s definitely not what should define the genre.
