Top Ten Inspiring Quotes From Books
I LOVE words. I love the power of them, the beauty of them and the emotion in them. However, while I love quotes, I don’t write them down anywhere to have a collection I can look back on. Perhaps this is something I should introduce? Do any of you have any organised way of writing down favourite quotes? Let me know, because I’d love to do that! Never-the-less, I gave today’s topic a good go!
What are some of your favourite inspirational quotes from books? And do you keep a notebook of them? Let me know in the comments!
I did this Top Ten too, and found some lovely quotes. I like your ‘falling in love’ quote. One of my favourites is “Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it” from Anne of Green Gables.

I love that quote! When I read it I literally had to put the book down and just heave a big sigh of emotion! TFIOS is my favourite Green book, the others haven’t quite got to me the same way, although he usually has at least one quote per book that makes me think. To me Green isn’t a fantastic writer overall, but he’s quite quotable R x

Is it strange that the quote about reading Harry Potter at 80 makes me want to cry tears of joy? This will be me too.

Not at all! That’s exactly how I feel when I read it! Lol… even if the “always” bit is the only proper book quote… R x

I used to keep a Word file of all of my favorite quotes. Of course, that was three laptops ago and the file was forever long. Most of them came from quotes from my junior year of English class (we’d have a new one each week to discuss), which I have in an old journal; the rest were from books I’d read while in college. Needless to say, the file was PAGES AND PAGES and out of hand. Now, I have my absolute favorites on Facebook, and highlighted in the books I own.

Ahhhh!! You highlight your books?! I’ve fought with myself over doing that for so long, but I’ve never managed to. I struggled with Wreck This Journal for ages because of my need for not “ruining” books, luckily I managed to overcome that one, but I can’t quite annotate my babies yet. Ariel Bissett nearly had me convinced though! I’m posting about it soon! R x

I find myself highlighting favorite quotes and passages on my Kindle, in some books. But I never go back to reference them after I’ve written a review. I generally try to add them to my Goodreads quotes so I don’t forget them. I’m bad about keeping track of quotes.

It’s SO much easier to do with a Kindle, and comes in so handy for writing reviews. I’m thinking of starting a bit of a log for when I’m reading physical books. I’m debating between using the Goodreads update status function more often, or keeping an actual handwritten journal… Goodreads seems the way to go for ease of use, but I’d love to start a journal of quotes… For someone who loves quotes so much, I’m terrible at actually having them anyplace useful! I used to jot down quotes in a notebook, but I find that nowadays I just get so caught up in the words that I forget to grab a notebook and pen. It does make me sad that I missed out on writing down so many beautiful things, but then I’m reminded of TTT posts like this, and the awesome quote database on Goodreads! So then I feel like I don’t really need my quote notebook anyways =P

I get all confused over it, do I want a notebook of quotes? Should I just use Goodreads? Do I take notes on my phone? (I’ve found they help with reviewing). Too many choices, I just want to read! 😀 R x
