Top Ten Books on My Spring TBR Pile

It can’t be that time of year again?! I missed last week’s TTT for the first time in a year. I was so busy with work, and thought I’d post late, but it dragged on for that long that I abandoned any hope of getting it up before the next week rolled around. But now, I’m back with a vengeance!

Before compiling this week’s TTT I thought I’d take a quick look back at my previous season TBR piles to see how successful I am at actually reading what I plan to…

Winter 2014 TBR – 3/10 * Autumn 2014 TBR – 1/10 * Summer 2014 TBR – 4/10

Just so it’s official then, I kind of suck at sticking to planned reading schedules 😛
but I’m ever hopeful!

Spring TBR 2015 1

1. A Girl Undone by Catherine Linka: I read A Girl Called Fearless (4/5) last year and I really enjoyed this Dystopian story. I’ve been looking forward to the sequel for ages now and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

2. Confess by Colleen Hoover: I couldn’t be any more excited for this novel, but my preorder from Amazon STILL isn’t here! (More on that soon!). I need it, now.

3. The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson: I’m reading this one soon for a Babes and Books review with Brandie and Stef, really looking forward to reading something by Nelson!

4. Still Alice by Lisa Genova: With the movie due to be released soon (or is it already out?) I definitely want to read this before seeing it. I’ve heard great things about the book and the movie, and Genova’s writing in general, so I have high hopes for this read!

5. The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O’Farrell: Cathy is hosting Read Ireland month, and I was really hoping to participate more than I have! It’s definitely a goal of mine to read many more Irish authors, and this one has been sitting on my shelf for a while.

6. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han: I’m so late to the party with this one, and it’ll probably be towards the end of Spring before I’m in the mood for it (clue’s in the title, people!).

7. The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker: A Dystopian standalone with a unique plot? Sign me up. There’s not a faction or district in sight!

8. The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell: Thankfully, Mitchell is a well-known and loved author, or I’d have to admit I may have purchased this based on its delicious cover alone…

9. The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton: This book seems to be getting a lot of recognition and love, so when I spotted it for a bargain price, I couldn’t resist!

10. Never Never Part 2 by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher: Early May counts as Spring, right?? I need the next installment of this story in my life. Then I need part three. Then I’d kill for a bind-up (pretty please?!). Check out my review for Never Never Part 1.

All of these books are on my To Be Read list for Spring, what are you planning to read in the next few months? And are there any in my list you’d highly recommend?

    Trust me, I suck at TBRs too. I think I read 3 of my Winter one.
    The Miniaturist is also on my list! I’m really excited for that one. And I really want to read Confess and Never Never -although I still have to read part 1. And Still Alice! It sounds like a very gripping read -plus I want to see the movie.

    You have so many interesting books on this list! I’m also interested in reading The Bone Clocks and the Miniaturist. The Sky is Everywhere is quite sad, but I do think it’s a perfect novel for spring. Jandy Nelson is a really good writer! Great list and happy reading! 🙂

      The UK definitely won the cover war for The Bone Clocks! I kept staring at it with longing in Tesco and finally took the plunge even though it was much more expensive than what I usually pay (still only £10 though) and hardcover. The Miniaturist probably isn’t something I’d pick up normally, but between the cover and the great reviews, I couldn’t say no! Thanks, Holly! R x

      Hi Cathy! Thanks for commenting! I SO wanted to do better with Irish reading month – it makes me sad that I haven’t but I’m hoping it will help me focus on Irish authors more in general. I read Instructions for a Heat Wave by O’Farrell and I enjoyed her writing style, but the story didn’t grab me 100% – hoping for more from Esme! R x

      I’m definitely reading those, because CoHo and Buddy Read!! I keep threatening to start it too. I added my thoughts on I’ll Meet You There to our Goodreads page though. R x

      I’ve read a good few now – Maybe Someday, Ugly Love, Losing Hope, Hopeless and the short stories Never Never and Finding Cinderella. My ultimate favourites are Maybe Someday and Ugly Love (I really liked Never Never but it’s part 1 of a 3 part story, so I’ll not know how much I love it until I’ve read it all). All of her books so far have been worth reading though – I love her. I have Confess and Slammed coming soon – it’s like Pokemon! I WILL have them all! Lol R x

    I find it so hard to stick to reading schedules, too! I did really good with my Winter ’14 TBR, but I think it’s the first one I’ve managed to predict what I was going to read over Christmas/New Years =) I’d love to read Confess, soon! I need to read more of Colleen Hoover’s books. Great picks, and I hope you love them when you read them!

      I just can’t seem to stick to a schedule at all – between being a mood reader and life getting in the way sometimes, my reading happens when it happens, and I pick it up when I feel like it. I use NetGalley, but I think I’d struggle to be one of those reviewers who requests and reads A LOT of ARCs before release date because I just can’t force myself to do it, and when I do, I feel it impacts on how much I enjoy the read. Thanks for commenting! I can’t wait for Confess! R x

    I’ve read all of Lisa Genova’s books, and have loved them all. Still Alice is such a compelling story and I hope you love it too! I’m excited to see how it transfers to the big screen, since so much of the story is in her head, but I’m sure it’s going to be awesome!

      Thanks for commenting, Melissa. I’ve been told Genova and… trying to remember – oh, JoJo Moyes are both really good writers I’d enjoy, so I’m looking forward to the read. I bought Still Alice as part of a set of two, and I think the other one is by Genova as well. R x

    Looks like a great reading plan! I kind of suck at keeping to the list too, but the lists are still fun to make anyway and refer to.

    I still need to start Never Never & definitely will before the sequel is out. Confess, The Sky is Everywhere, and The Summer I Turned Pretty= good stuff!!

    Still Alice is on my top ten TBR and sometime this spring, I WILL read that book. I think it’s starting to gather dust waiting for me. *sigh* This is a great list. 🙂

      I haven’t actually read any other Mitchell books yet! The Bone Clocks will be my first too, though I have heard great things about Cloud Atlas – apparently the format of the book can be a little confusing but the story is solid, and I want to read it before seeing the movie. All of his books seem to have a high average rating on Goodreads too! R x

    Brilliant list! I’ve always been intrigued by The Miniaturist but haven’t picked it up yet – I hope you enjoy it! I also need to read a book by Colleen Hoover, but I’m not sure where to start?! Can you point me in the right direction? 😀 x

      Hey, Sarah! Thanks for commenting! *Cracks knuckles* OK – So with Hoover I’d recommend starting with Maybe Someday – it gets you straight into the good stuff (oh, the feels!) and it’s her mixed media book that has a specially written soundtrack to go with it. It’s not just reading, it’s an experience!! From there I’d read Ugly Love. It’s an “older” story (MCs are a couple of years older than YA). I’m excited for Confess and have high hopes it will become a new favourite, so keep an eye out for my review to see if it should join your READ NOW list! Generally, I’m never let down by CoHo, but the order I read her books in is Maybe Someday, Ugly Love, Never Never Part 1, Hopeless, Losing Hope and Finding Cinderella (novella). I’m about to start Slammed soon and have heard great things about it too. I find her storylines to be original, and usually they’ll break you in some shape or form, and there’s plenty of swoons. Definitely check her out! I’m a CoHo Pusher!
