Top Ten New Series I’m Lusting After

I had to enlist trusty Goodreads again for this one. I have a considerable backlist to get through, but pre-blogging I can rarely pinpoint new series release dates. So, according to Goodreads’ Lists, here are the Top Ten New Series I’m Lusting After, where the first book was released in either 2013 or 2014.

1. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey (released 2013) – This series has been in the spotlight yet again with the recent release of book two (The Infinite Sea). I was hesitant to read this one as there were some mixed reviews, and I was more keen on reading it before the hype, and when I thought it was a stand-alone. I picked up the eBook for 99p in the Amazon Summer Sale (who can say no to that?!) but with the hype surrounding the second book, I’ve put reading it off for a little while.

2. Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren – I’ve heard this book mentioned by a couple of bloggers, and my trusty-romance-sidekick Brandie really enjoyed it, so when I next feel like delving into a sexy romance, I think this is where I’ll go to get my kicks!

3. Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke – I first fell for the cover of this book, and then the great reviews. The storyline just seems so gripping! Unfortunately, the gorgeous cover seems to be the US edition, and I refuse to own any other!

4. Collide by Gail McHugh – .I was introduced to this book/series by Laura, she had loads of good things to say about it during the #sexmeupreadathon… but I still haven’t got around to it yet.

5. Boomerang by Noelle August – Noelle August is a pen name for popular author Veronica Rossi. The cover of this one didn’t do much for me (not sure why I’m focussing so much on covers this week!) but I’ve heard tons of good things about this book, so it’s on my radar. I really got into New Adult reads this year, and though I’m on a NA-break at the minute, I know I’ll be back to it soon.

6. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray – I don’t often delve into Sci-Fi, but stories like this just seem to grab me, it sounds so compelling, and is another book/series that has been getting great reviews.

7. White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L Armentrout – I’ve yet to read an Armentrout book. I know. I know. Loads of them are on my wishlist though, and this one is definitely on there for being such a surprise. The cover didn’t give away much about this one at all, and then I read the blurb. So intrigued!

8. Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman – I’m a sucker for WW2 fiction, and this one just called to me. The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult is excellent for any other fans out there, and I’m nearly finished Life After Life by Kate Atkinson, I had no idea it was WW2 based when I picked it up, and it has proved to be a great surprise so far!

9. Gates of Thread and Stone by Lori M Lee – Another Sci-Fi thrown in this week. I’m not so good with sub-genres, but this type of Sci-Fi is one I tend to like. I can’t name the type I don’t like, but trust me it exists and it’s usually painful and mind-boggling to get through.

10. The Glass Sentence by S E Grove  – thought I wasn’t much of a Fantasy girl either, until I read Throne of Glass. I’ve seen BookTubers talking about this one, and it looks super interesting!

Honorary MentionThe Iron Trial by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black – My thought process for this book – “It’s by Cassandra Clare = I want to read it”. “It’s Middle Grade, so maybe not”. “Oh, but this review says it’s good, hmm maybe I will”. “Uh oh, this review says it’s a carbon copy of Harry Potter, oh no, can’t do that”. “Hmm, this one says it’s only a little like Harry Potter, but it’s still a great read”. “Oh, I just don’t know”. Yea, welcome to the brain of a Book Geek/book blogger.

Have Your Say:

Have Your Say is back this week! I know I still have to get to Cinder, and the last time I did this the winner was Eleanor & Park, so I will get to those soon, pinkie promise. In the meantime…

Has your favourite book made my list of series I’m lusting after? Do you think I’ll really enjoy one of the books mentioned and should pick it up sooner rather than later?

Let me know by voting in the poll below! You can pick your top 3 from my list, and voting is open for one week. I’ll read and review the book that comes out on-top (hopefully before Christmas!) – so get voting!

  1. I hope you get to read A Thousand Pieces of You soon. I think you’re going to love it! The 5th Wave is also on my list. I’ve never read Christina Lauren yet but I did buy Sweet Filthy Boy (although I haven’t read that one yet) 🙂

Thanks for sharing! Here’s my TTT post 🙂

  2. I plan to read Yancey soon, I hope so at least. Been meaning to read him a bunch of times and failed… always 😀
I need to start Armentrout as well, I’m gonna do it with Half-Blood. 🙂

      1. hahaha I know, I know! Shame on me. I’m on the third book but I’m putting it on hold until the Holiday break (I want to read all the way through the end of the series over Christmas break).

  4. I’ve been on the fence about The Iron Trial too. There are some fantastic middle-grade books out there, but also some that completely miss the mark. I just DNFed another Holly Black middle-grade read that couldn’t hold my attention, so I hesitate to pick up another by her.

You should definitely read The 5th Wave – it’s worth the read. I haven’t heard of The Glass Sentence before, but it sounds so good! I also really want to read Prisoner of Night and Fog – historical fiction is great. 🙂

I love this list, hard. Of course I’m going to vote Beautiful Bastard. It’s super hot and fun – I need to finish that series, too. Just not enough time to read!

I also have the Armentrout series on my list to read. Hopefully soon.

Boomerang is good! It’s a stand alone, too. I mean, there will be more books in the series, but can be read alone, too. Very entertaining NA.

Collide is another one I had recommended to me for a 50 Shades type fix. Just haven’t gotten to it, yet. STORY OF MY LIFE. *pouts* 😉

I want to read 5th Wave too! Except…I’ve heard such dubious things about it from most people who’ve read it, and most people who haven’t aren’t even interested. Wah! It does make me curious though. *nods* And I’m the same with The Iron Trials. HOLLY BLACK AND CASSANDRA CLARE? OMG GIVE TO ME…but then everyone says it’s so much like Harry Potter it’s not even funny.
    So. I’m absolutely torn.
Thanks for stopping by @ Notebook Sisters!

  8. Ooh, great list! I so want to read A Thousand Pieces of You, The Iron Trial (though I’m less sure of this one…), White Hot Kiss, and Gates of Thread and Stone desperately! I currently have a copy of Prisoner of Night and Fog which I hope to get to soon! 🙂

  9. Great choices, Rachel! I voted for Prisoner of Night and Fog – wonderful historical YA, with a dash of sweet romance. The story line is just simply amazing – you will be nervous and anxious the entire time. Hitler is a creepy dude. I also love Boomerang! It’s Romantic Comedy meets NA in the best way. Really, really cute.
    Happy reading, lady!
