Goodreads Synopsis: A beautiful and distinguished family. A private island. A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy. A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive. A revolution. An accident. A secret.

Lies upon lies. True love. The truth.

The Review

So, this is that one book everyone is talking about, and everyone says that it’s best to go into this story not knowing much about the actual story. This is completely true. Be forewarned, this will be the shortest review in the history of my blog. It’s a great read. Read it. That’s all you need to know.

This section has kind-of already been addressed above. But OK. I’ll give you a little more. I went into this book not knowing anything except there’s a bit of a twist, the book is reasonably short, and I’d yet to see a bad review. Considering I knew all of this, I had reasonably high expectations, and yet the hype monster didn’t get me at all, which I was super afraid of.

I was confused, emotional, confused, enthralled, confused, and then very not confused and very much in love with this book. As soon as I finished it I wanted to reread it, for clarification if nothing else. This was the Inception of novels. Do it, it’s worth it.

That will be all.

  1. I really enjoyed this one as well! I’m definitely going to reread it in the future- it would be so cool to read it again knowing the ending. Great review! 🙂

  2. I didn’t even realize this book was short or at least shorter compared to some. Granted, I was reading this one on an on and off way since I was on a vacation out of town. But that twist was something, right? I kept staring off into space waiting for it to truly sink in with me. 🙂

  3. I agree that the less you know when you first open the book, the better. But I feel like the dust jacket text that asks you not to reveal anything kind of put my expectation bar a bit higher than it might normally would have been and kept me trying to outwit the book and figure out what was really happening. In the end, that kind of left me walking away from it feeling like it wasn’t quite all it was advertised to be.

Lol…best short review ever. The hype kinda ruined this book for me and I wasn’t as wowed as everyone else. But it was still a decent read. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

  5. I have heard so many great things about this book. Both through blogging, and from friends. But I’m just not sure it’s a book I would enjoy. I’m a little nervous that you spent so much of the time reading this being confused. I don’t know if I would like that for myself. But i’m still intrigued because everyone raves about it.
