The Review
So, this is that one book everyone is talking about, and everyone says that it’s best to go into this story not knowing much about the actual story. This is completely true. Be forewarned, this will be the shortest review in the history of my blog. It’s a great read. Read it. That’s all you need to know.
This section has kind-of already been addressed above. But OK. I’ll give you a little more. I went into this book not knowing anything except there’s a bit of a twist, the book is reasonably short, and I’d yet to see a bad review. Considering I knew all of this, I had reasonably high expectations, and yet the hype monster didn’t get me at all, which I was super afraid of.
I was confused, emotional, confused, enthralled, confused, and then very not confused and very much in love with this book. As soon as I finished it I wanted to reread it, for clarification if nothing else. This was the Inception of novels. Do it, it’s worth it.

I didn’t even realize this book was short or at least shorter compared to some. Granted, I was reading this one on an on and off way since I was on a vacation out of town. But that twist was something, right? I kept staring off into space waiting for it to truly sink in with me. 🙂

Hi, Camille. I didn’t realise how quick a read this was either, which I think is a good thing, as a long drawn-out story would have ruined the suspense. I don’t think it has quite sunk in yet, I keep going over things that happened in earlier chapters questioning tense and descriptions! R x

I agree that the less you know when you first open the book, the better. But I feel like the dust jacket text that asks you not to reveal anything kind of put my expectation bar a bit higher than it might normally would have been and kept me trying to outwit the book and figure out what was really happening. In the end, that kind of left me walking away from it feeling like it wasn’t quite all it was advertised to be.

Hi, thanks for commenting! I found that part of the blurb a little bit cheesy! I didn’t really pay too much attention to anything to do with the book because I’d seen a couple of BookTubers say to literally avoid all references and spoilers, so that’s what I did. That way I think the book still impressed me, though it has left me dazed and confused and I know I’ll need to reread it at least once knowing the ending so I can try to piece it together.

Lol…best short review ever. The hype kinda ruined this book for me and I wasn’t as wowed as everyone else. But it was still a decent read. I’m glad you enjoyed it!

I have heard so many great things about this book. Both through blogging, and from friends. But I’m just not sure it’s a book I would enjoy. I’m a little nervous that you spent so much of the time reading this being confused. I don’t know if I would like that for myself. But i’m still intrigued because everyone raves about it.

Hmm. I wasn’t confused in a, “I don’t like this book, I want to put it down” kind of way… How do I describe this?? I was confused in a, “I can’t tell where this is going, WHAT just happened, oh it wasn’t literal, oh right so now this has happened and I see what’s happening but I’m not sure why…AHHHH. Now I get it.” Because it is such a short read too, you aren’t really left guessing for long, so it doesn’t drag out. It’s a good mystery/romance, I’d definitely say give it a go! R x

I’ve also read quite a few conflicting reviews for this book. Mostly, confused. I’m glad you generally enjoyed it, anyway.

There is an element of confusion – but in a good way. I have a really good comparison I could use to explain it perfectly, but it would give the story away a bit… lol it’s frustrating not being able to tell people why this is a good read and why the confusion pays off. For me it was a good confusion – like a mystery where you feel like a detective trying to piece it together, not confusing where you want to throw the book at the wall! R x
