Top Ten Books I Can’t Wait To Read (But Don’t Own Yet)

I’ve spent some time in the last week or so sorting through my Goodreads shelves, separating my “wishlist” reads, from the “I’m thinking about reading them” reads and the “I own them and need to read them” reads. It’s made my TBR look and feel much more manageable. This week’s TTT comes to you from my “wishlist” shelf.

TTT 26.08.14

1. If I Stay by Gayle Forman: With the movie being released in the UK really soon, I should have been on this one much quicker. I might need to wait for the DVD release at this rate, because this is one I definitely want to read first. I’ll admit it though, I’m afraid of the hype.

2. Ten Tiny Breaths by K A Tucker: This has been on my radar for some time now. Generally, I love all of the covers, and it has been getting really good reviews from bloggers I trust. I need to get on this series! Is it all released yet??

3. Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke: Can we just take a second to drool over that cover? OK, I’m good now. Parallel universes, Walkers, echos, every choice you make has consequences and you can see how these play out? Yes please, and then some.

4. Uglies by Scott Westerfield: We’re more body and beauty obsessed than ever, so I think this could be a really interesting take, the fact it is written by a (very popular) male author has not gone unnoticed, I don’t think I read enough by male authors…

5. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin: I have been wanting to read this series forever! It’s only a trilogy, right? Because I want need to binge-read it, and I don’t think I can wait much longer, and I can’t cope if it ends up being 6 books long. Also, I’m in love with those covers.

TTT #2 26.08.14

6. Cinder by Marissa Myer: I feel like the last blogger to the party with this one, I haven’t heard any negative reviews and it’s one I’ve been wanting to read for a while, but again, I like to binge-read my series. I don’t have much patience, and I don’t have the time to reread when a new installment is released! Argh, the frustration!

7. The Maze Runner by James Dashner: I know, I know. You can officially disown me now! Another book with a film adaptation due very soon. But until I saw the movie trailer, I wasn’t dying to get my hands on this book. Now, it looks pretty epic.

8. The Sea of Tranquillity by Katja Millay: This has such a high rating on Goodreads, and I’ve only ever heard people say how brilliant it is and how beautiful the writing is. I know I’ll read this at some point. It’s a must.

9. The Archived by Victoria Schwab: Based on the covers of Schwab’s books, these aren’t reads I would normally go for, but I’ve seen her name crop up on BookTube regularly, and I’ve only heard great things about the Archived books and also Vicious. I thought this was a duology, but looks like there’s a book three on the horizon. Yay, for more series… *sarcasm*

10. The Entire CoHo Backlist! I’m on a real contemporary/romance/NA kick at the minute, and having read and reviewed both Maybe Someday and Ugly Love, I’m ready to commit to the rest of Hoover’s books anyyy time now. I have Hopeless and Losing Hope on standby in my online shopping basket…

Have Your Say:

Last week’s TTT poll can be found here. The winner from last week is Throne of Glass! But it was a close call, with Stephanie Perkins just coming in second! I’ve read The Perks of Being a Wallflower (and watched the movie – brownie points!), so will have my review up for it this week.

Has your favourite book made my list of reads I’m looking forward to? Do you think I’ll really enjoy one of the books mentioned and should pick it up sooner rather than later?

Let me know by voting in the poll below! You can pick your top 3 from my list, and voting is open for one week. I’ll read and review the book that comes out on-top in the month of September – so get voting!

  1. I really liked If I Stay and loved Where She Went. I’m actually not sure if I will watch the movie. I must be emotionally ready for that one if I do decide to see it on the big screen. LOL 🙂 Cinder is on my bookshelf too but I haven’t started it yet. Although I’ve heard that the succeeding books are much better than the first. I actually haven’t read Colleen Hoover yet but her name’s a constant buzz to my radar because of all the books she has published. Might re-think that one.

If I Stay was cute, and it’s definitely made me excited for the film. Dissonance sounds amazing! Mainly because of parallel universes (and that really beautiful cover). You HAVE to read Mara Dyer, which is definitely a trilogy. It’s so awesome and a bit creepy sometimes, and it’s not long until the third book comes out either. Cinder is also brilliant and you should definitely read it, but waiting for the last book is horrible. The Maze Runner is good, although sometimes confusing. It’s worth the read though!

  3. Oh my, so many must reads!! Ten Tiny Breaths, The Sea of Tranquility, Hopeless & Losing Hope are all gorgeous reads!! Cinder was great! If I Stay is a definite must. I need to read Maze Runner and Mara Dyer myself. Great list! 🙂

  4. I need to sort through all my TBR lists too, made more difficult by the various websites housing them. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is on one of my TBR lists that I want to read too.

  6. I haven’t read most of these even though I own a few. I liked Mara but it didn’t blow me away as much as I thought it would. Cinder is great and I love the series, cannot wait for more!
I have yet to read others, looking forward to Maze Runner a lot 😀
    Happy reading!

  7. Definitely read Cinder! I absolutely loved it, and I ended up buying Scarlet straight away. I feel the exact same with the wait times between books in series. Half the time, my enthusiasm has all but disappeared by the time the next book comes along 😦 I don’t think it’ll happen with the Lunar Chronicles though! The Maze Runner is another one I really liked, but out of these two, I’d prefer Cinder.

All the other books on your list I need to read at some stage! Every time I see The Sea of Tranquillity I think why haven’t I read it yet?! Ten Tiny Breaths, Myra, and Uglies as well, and I’ve seen so many good things about each of them.

I’ve been trying to weed through my GoodReads to-read list, and it’s a bit scary knowing just how many books I really want to read! Best of luck with re-organising (I was pulling my hair out at one stage, so I’ve set it aside for the near future, teehee!)

  8. The Sea of Tranquility is amazing-definitely one of my favourites from last year. I really, really enjoyed The Maxe Runner, which surprised me because it’s not usually my kind of book. Looking forward to the adaptation.

      1. Perhaps it is a book cover trend you enjoy (no judgment here!)

Uhhhh, I’ll forward you notice on changes whenever I get around to it (even though I know times a tickin for next month).

Cinder is awesome, but I feel you on the need to binge-read a series. The wait for the last book has been particularly excruciating. The Maze Runner on the other hand was disappointing and I feel like the trailer lied to me. Curse you, Dylan O’Brian. Love the idea of the poll!

  10. I remember loving If I Stay, but I read it years ago and I got it for £1. I might have felt differently if I had heard all of the huge hype that surrounds it. I really want to read Dissonance, Hopeless, The Maze Runner, The Sea of Tranquillity and The Archived myself. I really enjoyed Cinder and Ten Tiny Breaths, they were both really great. Ten Tiny Breaths was the first ARC I was ever approved for on Netgalley, haha.

  11. So many good ones on here. Mara Dyer is a good book not one that I went out and bought immediately, but I did buy it. Because of the hype I was expecting a lot more, so go in without expectations and you will enjoy it. I want to say its one I would check out at the library or off thriftbooks.com because I was kinda mad I bought it full price.
Ten Tiny Breaths is AMAZING, I bought the whole Uglies series at my used bookstore two months ago and still havent opened them. Dissonance is one I am really anticipating as well…

Thanks for stopping by earlier 🙂

  12. I’ve been seeing The Maze Runner on so many lists and didn’t know it was going to be a movie. It sounds like a great premise so I’ll definitely check out the film, thanks!

  13. This is a great list, Rachel! I highly recommend If I Stay – Gayle Forman’s writing is so beautiful. But mainly you need to read it so you can move on to Where She Went, which is one of my favorite books EVER. Adam = love.
The Mara Dyer series is good too – I like the second more than the first. I’m dying to find out how this thing is gonna end!
Cinder – guuuuurl, get on that! Marissa Meyer rocks. 😀
The Sea of Tranquility – you’d be hard pressed to find more gorgeous writing! It’s a little angsty, but the characters are fantastic.
Hopeless – this is my favorite CoHo book. Holder is just yummy.

  14. I really want to read The Archived! Have heard so many good things about that novel. I’m familiar with quite a few on this list, and one that jumped out at me as I was scrolling through the post was Cinder. I read it last year and it was fantastic. High recommend it. 🙂
